We are quite often asked about certain aspects of the process of having your carpets cleaned and we hope that the following will be of help and will answer some of the questions you may have.

  • Does the room have to be empty of furniture? All that we ask is that small items of furniture, toys, and similar items are removed from the room if possible. We will move any furniture that can be safely moved within the room and replace it to its original place on protective foil to prevent rust or dye marks going onto your carpets.
  • Is it true that once the carpets have been cleaned they will get dirtier quicker? It depends who cleans your carpets and the type of cleaning products that a carpet cleaner uses is the honest answer. At Stay Clean Services, we do not use shampoos or detergents to clean your carpets, and its by the use of such cleaning products that re-soiling problems arise. Imagine washing your hair without rinsing the shampoo off, and how sticky it would feel once dry, and that is exactly what can happen with your carpet. The residue from shampoo and detergent will act as a magnet for any airborne dust and also from any foot traffic walking over the carpet. All our carpet cleaning is carried out by the use of eco-friendly, bio-degradeable cleaning solutions, so by using Stay Clean Services re-soiling will not be a problem.
  • I have heard of the price suddenly changing on the day of the cleaning? Sadly, as with any trade, carpet cleaning is no different in that sometimes unscrupulous practices can happen. Some carpet cleaners use what is known as "bait & switch" tactics, this basically means that a very low attractive price will be offered in the hope of you using their services, but on the day the price can quickly multiply for things such as moving furniture, vacuuming, spot removal etc. At Stay Clean Services we will provide you with a fully itemised, written quotation in advance of any work we do, the price will not change at any stage.
  • How wet will the carpets be, I have been told that sometimes it can take days to dry? The equipment and cleaning methods we use ensure that your carpets are left merely damp at the end of the job. Drying times will vary and are dependant on several factors such as the wool content of your carpets, indoor humidity, and the weather on the day. But in all cases we will advise you of an approximate time the carpets are expected to be fully dry.
  • Is there a risk of shrinkage of my carpets? All carpets have the potential for shrinkage if the wrong cleaning methods are used or are overwet during the cleaning process. This is why we identify the carpet fibres during the quotation stage to determine the correct cleaning method for your individual carpet.
  • Why can't you give me a price over the telephone? To be honest we really do wish we could, we can give you an estimate based on the information you can give us, but before we book any cleaning work in we really do need to see the items involved. Our main reason for this is because we need to know exactly what we are being asked to clean and give you an itemised survey form, which spells out exactly the cost to you. As we are a responsible cleaning business and your custom is valuable to us, we trust you will understand our reasons for carrying out such a survey. We do not use this visit as an excuse to pressure you into having further items cleaned, far from it, we simply act in a professional manner where our customers are concerned.
  • A lot of eco-friendly products are more expensive than normal products, does that mean it will cost us more? Definately not, in fact the opposite is true. The cleaning solutions we use work out cheaper than conventional cleaning chemicals and are much more cost effective in use. Equally true is that we have not jumped on the bandwagon of being eco-friendly just as a cynical marketing ploy. Yes, we accept our responsibilities with the cleaning products we use and the impact they can have on the environment, but our main reason for this switch was very, very simple. They provide a much better clean, bring greater benefits to the clean, and in short leave us with happier customers at the results we achieve.
